A King comes to Belfast!

Yesterday, the 13th of September, Belfast welcomed a royal visitor in the form of the newly crowned King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla. Following their visit to the Royal Residence in Northern Ireland, at Hillsborough Castle, the couple made their way to St Annes Cathedral. Here, a memorial service for the late Queen Elizabeth took place. The service was a meeting point for politicians across both Britain and Ireland, with those in attendance including Liz Truss and Michael D Higgins, amongst others. Significant members of the local community were also welcomed to the Cathedral, including Dr Satyavir Singhal from the nearby Indian Community Centre, who was afforded an opportunity to meet the King. He described how he felt ‘humbled and proud to be invited for reflection service for Queen Elizabeth 2nd in Belfast‘.

As crowds lined to streets to catch a glimpse of the couple and news cameras followed, it is great to see two member buildings sharing in the spotlight of the days events!
