The Duncairn Arts Centre has been the most recent recipient of funding from Great Place North Belfast’s Seed Fund. The project brings green space into the complex of the former Church buildings, including a Peace Tree. The significance of this development cannot be understated. Bringing green space to the Duncairn enhances its curb appeal to visitors and passers by alike, drawing both into the building. The green space also indicates a move towards meeting climate change objectives in Belfast, to which Great Place and its members are committed. The peace tree, in particular, holds significant symbolism. It recognises the 174 Trust’s role in promoting harmony in a historically fractured region. This important Seed Fund project was made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Belfast Charitable Society.
These photos show the recently planted Peace Tree. We cant wait to see it flourish in future!
