The North Belfast Heritage Cluster, a collection of 15 heritage sites across a one-mile radius, is unique in its authenticity and diversity. Through a four-year project, Great Place North Belfast (2018 – 2022), the Cluster saw the growing and important role in representing the stories of Belfast’s development; gaining more prominence and awareness as major civic and locally significant landmarks. In January 2023 the Cluster were successful in securing more development funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The cluster has been busy the last few weeks in organising and playing a crucial role in the delivery of the Look North! festival …with much success and more to come. And over the coming months will continue to work hard to improve the heritage offer within North Belfast, enhancing the area and encouraging greater access for those wishing to work, live and visit.
Through this new phase of Great Place North Belfast project, cluster members will be supported to work collaboratively to share the history of the area; share events and information; share resources to ensure sustainability; develop digital skills and content; participate in history harvests with local communities; develop partnerships across the cluster and outside of it; continue to build capacity and skills including in funding and governance; work to protect the built heritage whilst also ensuring they are environmentally efficient; and protecting and sharing the rich archives that exist across the members, to name but a few!

So watch this space, and follow along on our journey. Great Place North Belfast is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
